"…he had gathered that life for everybody was a struggle, sometimes magnificent from a distance, but always difficult and surprisingly simple and a little sad."

If there is a heaven, I hope to God it’s as beautiful as the people in my life right now.

"Read books. Care about things. Get excited. Try not to be too down on youself. Enjoy the ever present game of knowing."

"Sometimes, you read a book and it fills you with this weird evangelical zeal, and you become convinced that the shattered world will never be put back together unless and until all living humans read the book. And then there are books which you can’t tell people about, books so special and rare and yours that advertising your affection feels like a betrayal."

Backpacks & the in-between

I’ve always really liked backpacks.  Maybe it’s because they signify going—going somewhere, going anywhere.  One of my favorite Christmas gifts was a brand new backpack and I can’t help noticing the fact that I glance at it every twenty minutes; it’s like clockwork.  In a few days time, I’ll be back at college, but I’m worried that I won’t find any new sparks of mental energy.  I’m not sure what the hell I’m doing.

I think I need to get out of this state.
